Day Two - Pub Crawl with exercise!

Ok, taking Taxi's is THE way to go. We go to the office, the lady calls us a cab and 10 minutes later, we're in MECCA! In this case, we started out at Mallory Square so we could go to the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum, who hit the motherlode with the discovery of the Nuestra SeƱora de Atocha, Santa Margarita Spanish Galleons of 1622. I held a gold bar worth $15,000 in my hand, it was pretty cool.

After that, it was over to the Historic Seaport boardwalk, where I got to see Jimmy Buffett's recording studio - it's an unmarked building and I took a photo of it, but out of respect for Jimmy's privacy, I can't tell you where it is. . .

After that, we went on walkabout, looking for the Key West Cemetary - in search for B. P. Roberts headstone that said "I told you I was sick" and we saw firsthand the coffin condos, which are necessary for attempting to bury 75,000 people in 1 graveyard!

Many of the gravestones (that were legible) had personal messages and I particularly favored the one that warned about "moaning at the bar when I put to sea!

We then went to Hard Rock Cafe on Duval Street, we'd put in a lot of walking and Bob was starving, and enjoyed a respite and post-presidential election cocktail whilst plotting the rest of the day.

We then went to the top of the Crowne Plaza on Duval Street, they have an observation deck at the top of the hotel, which is FREE (I got this tip from the same helpful bus driver that advised us where Jimmy's secret studio is)!

We went back to Mallory Square and watched the Cigarette boats race (this apparently is an ESPN event and they had chase helicopters and all kinds of craziness!) and we settled in to wait for the Sunset extravaganza.

Just my luck - it was a gorgeous day and we secured our spot on the concrete wall to get the ultimate photo of the sunset. . .

And the sun then set ~ and there were thousands of cameras pointed at it ~ BEHIND CLOUDS!

And we ended the day back on Duval Street, looking for a cab - but not before stopping for Mudslides at the Flying Monkey's Saloon!

Life is good. . .
