It's Official. Bob and I are youngsters. . . .

We've arrived. But before I get into detail about arriving Key West, I must make a general observation that both Bob and I noticed as we were travelling. We drove 1,632 miles down the east coast of the US and ~ believe me, we looked ~ we were undisputably the youngest people piloting ANY kind of RV south!!

Check this out - the 7 mile bridge! As we entered the "Key's" proper, there was lots of construction, traffic and it was kindof scarey as the towns we travelled through were seriously disappointing (they made Myrtle Beach and it's shops look decidely upscale!). The bridges were pretty cool and it was exciting to have to shut the windows and turn on the AC because it was so hot! I'm a sucker for the green and blue tints of water as I gaze out over the ocean, so life was good.

So - this is home for the next week. It's cozy, we're stuffed in between a couple of really, really, old and small campers (to the left a class C with 2 huskies and to the right a small truck camper with an older couple who've already adopted us - more to follow on that later). We have a nice concrete patio, picnic table and our reclining chairs, placed under a palm tree, overlook the Atlantic Ocean.

We haven't been to "Old Town" yet, which is the Key West we came down here for - that's on tomorrow's agenda. But as we walked around the campground, noticed that there's several boats that look to be in dire straits. I chose this one to show that Bob has already sunk a party boat!

We've got critters galore here - there's signs posted warning about boaters hurting manatees, we have encountered herons and as I was talking to Dad on the phone tonight, a couple of pelican's landed right behind the camper in the water! Of course the camera was in the camper but you know I'll have plenty of photos to post as the week progresses.
I'll keep y'all posted!
