We've arrived our planned destination of South of the Border but it wasn't without it's bumps! We ran into a horrific traffic jam on the beltway in Maryland and then again later in Virginia on 95 by Emporia. Who knew painting lines on the newly paved highway would cost us so much time on the road.

Aside from traffic, we only had a couple of "incidents" - shortly after crossing the tapanzee bridge, doesn't something fly up from the road and we heard a horrific KLUNK on the front of the motorhome. We waited for the rest of the noises that would indicate that whatever it was that hit us was busy ripping up the guts of the motorhome underneath, but we lucked out in that it only bruised the front panel. I'm thinking we're going to need to put Dan Pogo on speed dial for RV repair!!!
As we cruised down 95, we did our part for the southern states by utilizing our windshield to kill as many fat insects as possible and from the looks of it, we were quite successful.
Those of you that go down to Myrtle Beach in April? I learned something today - all those nice green fields that we pass by on the highway (that I always thought was tobacco)? It's COTTON! Who knew?So now that we're in Pedroland, I went to fire up the newly repaired microwave and it's busted again! Fortunately, it's only somewhat busted in that it will cook but the spinning doohickey doesn't spin anymore. I'm started to really hate GE. . .
Tomorrow we're off to Flagler Beach - I'm hoping that we don't lose the extra hour we get from setting the clocks back to a *%^$#@ traffic jam!
Stay tuned - I'll be updating as often as I can!! Oh, and the weather is absolutely gorgeous - warm, sunny and dry.
Another fun fact? We saw gas prices in Virginia at $1.97/gallon! Of course, this was AFTER we'd filled up at $2.03 - but as we headed south, the prices fluctuated between $2.53 & $3.03.
